Digital Literacy and Human Dignity: Critical Thinking in Action!

Datum objave: 24. February 2025.

On February 19, 2025, the World Youth Alliance Europe organized a webinar aimed at equipping youth with tools for critical thinking and media literacy through structured dialogue. This virtual critical thinking and media literacy session is part of “Empowering Human Dignity of EU & WB youth” project funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. This Virtual exchange initiative is implemented by the WYA Europe in the partnership with Bosnian Representative Association for Valuable Opportunities, WYA South East Europe from Croatia, WYA Spain, Këshilli i Veprimit Rinor – Prizren from Kosovo and EPOKA University from Albania.

During the webinar, participants had the opportunity to engage in intercultural learning through philosophical texts by various authors such as Viktor Frankl, Charles Malik and many others. Participants also discussed topics on human dignity, solidarity, culture, human rights and freedom, helping participants reflect critically on key values and media narratives.

Seventeen young people from Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Spain, Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia were part of an interactive session to navigate digital information responsibly, weaving short presentations, discussions, and an open Q&A. The session encouraged participants to think independently and engage with challenging ideas in a respectful, inclusive setting. This webinar attendees practiced real-time source evaluation and shared perspectives rooted in their own cultural backgrounds.

Feedback gathered at the end of the event confirmed that the highly participatory setup kept attendees engaged and sharpened their critical-thinking skills, an experience that mirrors the collaborative learning style of WYA Europe’s Certified Training Program. The session also helped them understand how cultural context shapes interpretations of digital content and social issues.
