Successful completion of the Critical Mind Academy

Date of publication: June 16, 2025.

The Critical Mind Academy held from July 9-12, 2025 concluded with success on its online implementation in a four-day of intensive training. The event, hosted 25 young people aged 18–30 residing in Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Spain, Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia.

This training featured speakers of four WYA’s experts who addressed key topics on media literacy, particularly in misinformation and disinformation within the internet and social media. The Academy develops knowledge alongside the critical thinking, clarity, and confidence required to face when journalism becomes unreliable and tends to spread panic, with the elements of indoctrination, polarization, and violent radicalisation.

Participants engaged directly with WYA’s research papers and collaborated in peer discussions. As an international organization grounded in solidarity, WYA ensures that its programs reflect diversity, offering an inclusive space for youth from varied cultural backgrounds. The program, designed as an interactive learning experience, promotes digital collaboration, intercultural exchange, and a deeper understanding of policy challenges on journalism across Europe.

The Critical Academy is implemented within the ˝Empowering Human Dignity of EU & WB youth˝ project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. It is also made possible through the collaboration of key partners across Europe: Bosnian Representative Association for Valuable Opportunities (BRAVO), Bosnia & Herzegovina, Alianza Mundial de la Juventud España (AMJE), Spain, Këshilli i Veprimit Rinor – Prizren (KVRP), Kosovo, EPOKA University, Albania and Svjetski savez mladih Jugoistočna Europa (SSM JIE), Croatia.
